Layer 1 is the vector artwork that Illustrator opens. Layers do not alter the output of your screen printer’s artwork they make it easier to work on. Layers will use elements from the main picture for each color. Each color will be a separate piece of artwork in a separate layer. Preparing Your Artwork File For Each Color, Create LayersĪdobe Illustrator is the best way to create artwork for screen printing. The top color prints directly on the bottom color this can often produce a new color since the ink is not always opaque. Overprint is the third and easiest technique. It relies on printing a specific color in the space left by the bottom color. The Knockout technique is a less common option. Screen printing can be difficult to achieve exact results, especially when printing on fabric surfaces. This prevents gaps from printing incorrectly with the second color. When the bottom color “bleeds,” it is called Trap. Three types of artwork are commonly used to print this type: Each layer interacts with the other to create a complete image. We have to create artwork for each color layer as the t-shirt will be printed in three different colors. Your screen printing company will communicate your requirements and may offer tips to help you avoid potential problems. While some printers prefer to make their separations, it is still beneficial to learn the process. It is then set up so that a screen printing company can easily print the color separations. This post will show you how to use Adobe Illustrator to create a 3-color screen print with a fictional company logo. These t-shirts are an accessible promotional item that people will wear and also have the bonus of being an advertisement for your business. I am still in the process of downloading the 4.2 RC, so I haven’t tried it myself, but I have a question for you.ĭo these Revel publish collections now sync bi-directionally? Meaning if I add / change / delete a photo on my iPad, does that change sync back to the collection in Lightroom? I love being able to publish from Lightroom to Revel, but wanted to know about bringing back changes I make to my photos from Revel back into Lightroom.Getting printed t-shirts is a great way to promote your company, organization, or event. Nowhere does it mention updating the Revel Publish Service, so when you posted this tonight, I freaked out!! My biggest wish for Revel / Lightroom integration was a sync able photo hierarchy. However, I had no idea about the smart collections changes in the Lr 4.2 RC. Now that this update has hit, I am back in love with Revel. I was a subscriber, but was frustrated at the lack of web albums, and organization into albums so I cancelled my subscription. Like you, I had the same reaction to Revel 1.5…albums!!! Finally!!! This update pushed me over the edge to come back. With Revel, I hit the Publish button on my “Recent Work” smart collection and my iPad is updated! Now getting most Portfolio apps to reflect that update is often a very manual process. For example, one of my Portfolios called “Recent Work” It has 24 images in it and after each shoot I put 1-3 images in and remove the oldest ones keeping it at 24. GREAT! However, where most of them fall down is the difficulty in updating or keeping the portfolios current. Many let you customize them with your own brand, they have nice transitions and they allow for music to play during the show. There are some really great Portfolio apps for the iPad out there that do all kinds of cool things. This means that when I update any of my portfolios (collections), all I have to do is press the Publish button in the Revel area and those portfolios are sync’d to the cloud and therefore my iPad, iPhone and other Macs. However, with the updated Lightroom 4.2 (RC) Publish Collection plug-in I can now create Smart Published Collections that mirror my Portfolios (Collections) in Lightroom. The Lightroom Integration is the KeyĪdobe Revel as a stand alone product/service isn’t that interesting for my workflow. While Revel isn’t new, the 1.5 update adds the one feature that I’ve been waiting for – ALBUMS! Now that I can organize my photos in Albums (I know, simple concept right?) It just became much more useful to me. With the Revel Service you can add photos from any device, do non-destructive enhancements and see those photos on any device. There’s currently a desktop Mac version and an iOS Version. Adobe Revel is Adobe’s Photography Cloud Service.

They hired bzr developers, including some really bright folks (Robert Collins, who I knew from the Squid project, was one of them, but there were others). They bet quite heavily on Launchpad and related infrastructure, but a few things happened on the way to the opera, and here we are. But I sure wouldn't consider it for high-end work. I did nice stuff with Illustrator way back in 2000, on machines that ran slower than a modern box would after the additional overhead of running compiled JS in a neutered web browser. You could probably edit moderately complex files with a theoretical vector package working under the handicap of being interpreted JS running in a neutered web browser. in general there's a lot of ways to send performance over a cliff by making the program generate a hell of a lot of shapes from simple rules - scatter brushes deposit a lot of copies of a shape along the path you draw, art brushes distort a shape along your drawn path, you can generate multiple paths with various programmatic effects applied to them from a single path. also you can do some really terrible things to Illustrator's performance very quickly by applying a distortion mesh to a shape with a pattern fill that contains a lot of copies of its patternĥ. a few large bitmap effects at 300dpi can very quickly bring IllustratorI to its knees, I'm not sure if this is due to using up tons of memory, unoptimized image convolution routines, or simply having to grovel through a lot of data.Ĥ. in the middle of a very large and complex list of items, or whatģ. adding new objects to a complex file starts getting super slow (somewhere around 4-5000 paths, less if you're generating lots of virtual paths via various effects) - I'm not sure if this is due to running out of physical memory, or trying to insert new items. lots of transparency with the GPU acceleration on - it very quickly becomes an order of magnitude slower than the CPU renderer, especially if you do tricks to generate 3-4 translucent shapes from every path you draw by hand like I do nowadaysĢ. My experience with many years of pushing Illustrator's limits is that the big performance hits are:ġ. That doesn't make it a great fit here, but I'm happy to be surprised. There are some definite value wins in that space. I don't think Chrome, JS, Node or Electron are going anywhere any time soon. Many electron apps just aren't that well written, and not to besmirch any developers working in other toolkits, making good JS code in a larger codebase is a different kind of skill than most are used to, beyond this, the techniques and approaches for performance gains are also fairly different. I know that using it for heavy filters on raster art would be too slow comparatively for many.įrankly, VS Code is probably the only moderately complex application that really shows off Electron. I'm not sure a vector graphics program is a good fit or not, or where the edges in performance may be. beyond this, even as a big fan of Electron based applications, for a lot of things, it's not a great fit for a many things. I think the downvotes are partly because of your "Cue the downvotes" at the beginning. But of course stranded wire is more expensive to manufacture, which is why it's not used universally, particularly at higher gauges (#10 or smaller). What is the best way to splice/connect 6awg THHN wire in a junction box TIA, JC. And also yes, stranded wire is much easier to bend than solid core. Therefore, the more conductors (strands), the greater the surface area and the lesser the resistance of current. I literally stumbled on this like three weeks ago, so it's very satisfying to pass this knowledge along to you.Īnd yes, I do believe that the electrons flow on the OUTSIDE surface area of a conductor. They are called centered hexagonal numbers and are used in wire construction as an optimal way to circle pack as many round conductors into a circular arrangement. It's awesome you asked about why the conductor has 7 strands! The next size up would have 19 strands. 99 (0.08 0.08 /Count) 5 coupon applied at checkout Save 5 with coupon. So, your choice of color code - which one is "right" - will largely depend on the country you work in and what types of organizations you install for. The only difference between them is how frequently they are used in a particular region or type of organization. There is no electrical difference between the T568A and T568B wire sequences, so neither is inherently superior. Ethernet cable jack wiring follows the T568A and T568B standards. It allows cabling technicians to reliably predict how Ethernet cable is terminated on both ends so they can follow other technicians' work without having to guess or spend time deciphering the function and connections of each wire pair. We also discuss when and why to use a straight-through Ethernet patch cable color versus an Ethernet crossover cable wiring color code.Įthernet cable Color-coded wiring sequences exist as a cabling industry standard. Historic facts on the Ark of the Covenant are obscured by the illogical emotions that Christians and Christian Fundamentalists have for stories of the Bible, the explosive political symbolism of a war-torn Middle East, and a true paucity of actual documents and supporting artifacts. The Sword of Moses hooked me in as a reader through a great story premise and a great main character. Ava relentlessly pursues the Ark, because finding the Ark might lead her to a former Nazi SS named Malchus - the man who she believes murdered her father. and British Intelligence, the ancient brotherhood of Freemasons, the Knights Templar, and extremist Neo-Nazis. Rumchata is mainly used in making creamy cocktails. By March of the following year the government had issued a recommendation that people in all “high-risk groups” undergo periodic testing to determine if they were infected with the virus. Though the same type of test continued to be used, new protocols were added-like retesting positive results-to make the process more appropriate for concerned patients. So it should be no surprise that the focus of testing soon moved from the blood supply to individual people. Others worried that, if donating blood were the only way for someone to be tested for the virus, that would encourage individuals worried about their exposure to donate blood, furthering potential introduction of HIV to the blood supply. In addition to these medical questions and the high false-positive rate, early HIV tests were surrounded by the very real threat of stigma and discrimination-not just from a positive result, but even from being tested at all, which could be interpreted as a sign of belonging to a high-risk group (which included homosexual men, intravenous drug users and prostitutes, among others). The presence of HTLV III antibody is NOT a diagnosis of AIDS.” Actually, as Smithsonian Museum of American History explains in its documentation of the ELISA test, the test kit had a label: “It is inappropriate to use this test as a screen for AIDS or as a screen for members of groups at increased risk for AIDS in the general population. While the current public-health view focuses on testing as a path to empowering resulting knowledge, enabling a person to help themselves and protect others, the first test wasn’t framed in the same way. The situation was very different for someone wondering if they had a disease that, at the time, had no proven treatment. But, given the low rate of positive results in general, these questions didn’t matter very much in the context of blood donations-after all, the blood in question could just be disposed. At the time, medical uncertainty also surrounded the question of whether a positive result meant the blood donor had already developed AIDS or had simply been exposed to the virus. Because the first tests were intended to ensure blood donations would not transmit the virus, they were very sensitive and so had a high rate of false positive results. At least with Nespresso, the source farmers, their relationships with Nespresso, and the funded social programs are pretty much upfront. Buying a bag of beans can mean you're actually supporting child labor, women's rights suppression, water misuse, forest depletion, bird slaughter. Lastly, the global politico/economic scene around coffee is far more complex than simply disliking Nestlé (which is not Nespresso anymore than Walmart is Birkshire Hathaway). Third, while the lower end Breville machines are highly regarded, notice how broad Breville's range is: a GOOD espresso system is more like $2000, and Breville is just one of dozens of excellent manufacturers. Second, the perceived savings (which may or may not be real) are easily offset by Nespresso's speed, convenience, lower noise, lack of mess, ease of work. Perhaps in the future I'll once again want to get a traditional espresso machine but I don't think it'll be to save money. With my Nespresso machines, I feel like I'm getting the best of everything. They all had downsides that felt like I was trading good coffee for convenience. Similarly, I've had keurigs, tassimo, and the Starbucks verismo machines. Each serve their purpose and I've found the creatista solved many of my issues I was having with the traditional espresso machine. I currently have the vertuo, creatista uno, and regular coffee maker. For just coffee, I just grind fresh beans and use a regular coffee maker. I guess that's more on the espresso/latte end. I ended up spending so much time and money trying to make the "perfect" cup and ending up feeling disappointed. My issue was the variability of the shots I pulled and quality of milk I frothed. I went from a lower end espresso maker to Nespresso. |
